DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE

My Dear Rotary Friends,

As District Governor in 2011-12, my message to you is to Enjoy Rotary!  This wonderful organization offers us great opportunity for service, personal growth, business networking, broader international understanding, and fellowship.  So be positive!  Be active!  Be involved!  Enjoy Rotary!  

R. I. President Kalyan Banerjee’s theme for 2011-12 is “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.”  Look within yourself to determine why you are a Rotarian, define your passion, and take that passion to the service work you do.  President Banerjee encourages us to emphasize three areas.  First, the Family.  We each must have a stable, supportive base from which we do our Rotary work.   Involve your family in your Rotary life.   Second, Continuity.  Continue doing the things Rotary does well.  Finish eradication of polio.  Develop new leaders.  Support our youth programs.  Third, Change.  Our clubs must remain relevant and significant and more attractive to potential new Rotarians.  Keep pace with technology.  

The R. I. Manual of Procedure defines an effective Rotary Club as one that sustains and increases membership, has successful service projects, supports the Rotary Foundation, and develops leaders beyond the club.  The officers and committees of District 5500 stand ready to help you be effective in 2011-12.  

I am deeply honored to serve as your Governor in 2011-12.  I wish you all great success.  Enjoy Rotary!
