Philip "Phil" Silvers, RI Director 2008-10 - Zones 25 - 26
A Rotarian since 1986, Phil is a member of the Rotary Club of Tucson Sunrise. He was president of the Rotary Club of Tucson in 1994, District 5500 Governor 1999-2000, and District 5500 Rotary Foundation Chair 2002-05. He served as Arizona Tri-District PETS Trainer 2003-06, and currently represents D-5500 on the faculty of the Arizona Rotary Leadership Academy. Phil was Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator, Zone 25, 2004-07; and has served as RI Membership Zone Coordinator 2002-04; Annual Programs Fund Strategic Advisor 2003-2004; Community Service Programs Task Force 2001-02; 2001 International Institute Committee 2000-01; and R.I. Open World Evaluation Committee 1999-2000 Phil and Rotarian spouse, Kathleen, started two highly successful Rotary clubs in Russia and the first minority-majority club in Tucson. He chaired the third Rotary in Russia conference in 1999; was an invited presenter at the Presidential Peace Forum in St. Petersburg, the RI Glasgow and Chicago conventions, and all Zone 25/26 Institutes since 1998. Phil was named Zone 25 Most Outstanding Past District Governor for Rotary’s Global Quest in 2001-02. He led Rotary’s first all-indigenous Group Study Exchange to Western Australia, did a New Opportunities Grant University Teacher Exchange to Russia, participated in a NID in India, served as R.I. President’s Representative, and served as District 5500 representative to the 2004 Council on Legislation and as an official observer in 2007. Kathleen has served as club president, district trainer, Tri-District PETS facilitator, and speaker/moderator at several Zone Institutes. Phil and Kathleen are Foundation benefactors, Bequest Society, Paul Harris Society, Arch C. Klumpf Society, and donors to their Rotary Foundation Advised Fund.
Thomas "Tom" Tilton - District Governor - 2008-09
He married Maria and they have two sons, Adam and Jeffrey. The family has hosted 10 Rotary youth exchange students in their home over a period of 15 years and 10 GSE teams. Jeffrey also attended RYLA. Tom is a member of the Rotary Club of Tucson Sunrise since 1980. He has served the club in various positions from Sgt-at-Arms (4 years) to Community Service Chair, Vocational Service Chair, International Service Chair, Club Youth Exchange Coordinator, Secretary, Vice-President and President (1992-93). At district level he has served as an Assistant Governor (2 years), District Secretary, Chair: Inbound GSE (3 years), District GSE Chair (2 years), Member Youth Exchange Committee, District Co-Trainer (2 years), Interact Committee, Registrar for District Conference (2 years) and Master of Ceremony for two District Installation Dinners and Foundation Dinners. Tom has also been trainer for incoming Presidents and also for incoming Secretaries at the Tri-District PETS (5490, 5500, 5510) for a number of years. Tom was fortunate to be chosen to be Team Leader on a Group Study Exchange to Northern Italy, and credits Maria, an Italian, for his success! He and Maria also co-hosted a Friendship Exchange to Scotland in 2004 with twenty-two other Sunrise Rotarians and their spouses. Tom, Maria, and their sons are Paul Harris Fellows, and the Tiltons are Benefactors and members of the Bequest Society, as well as the Paul Harris Society. Tom has received the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the Four Avenues of Service Award, Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Service to Friends and Communities, and the Rotary Foundation District Service Award. The Tiltons
are active in their community, both civic and social, have been active in
their Church and Parish for over twenty years.
District
Governor-Nominee Steven
R. DiMuzio has been a Rotarian since 1986 first joining a club in Glens
Falls, New York. Since then he was a member in the Yorktown Rotary Club in
Yorktown, NY and in 1997 joined the Casa Grande, AZ Rotary club.
In Casa Grande he served as club Service Director, Vocational
Director, and Foundation Director before becoming club President in 2005.
Under Governor Jim Aslin, he served as District 5500 Secretary and is
currently assigned as the central region’s Assistant Governor in
2007-08. He is currently DGN. His
district service also included facilitating at several district assemblies
and a SETS and PETS facilitator in 2006 and 2007. He is a Paul Harris
fellow. Trained
as a teacher he later became an Assistant High School Principal, Principal
and then Superintendent. He served three districts as Superintendent of
Schools for over 18 years. He served on several educational advisory
boards in New York State prior to coming to Arizona. He was named one of
Executive Educator’s Top 100 School Administrators in 1988. He received
his doctorate in educational administration from Teachers College,
Columbia University in 1989. He
retired in 2004 and currently provides consulting services to
underperforming schools through the Arizona Department of Education and
the Wallace Leadership Foundation. Married
for 31 years to his wife, Carolann, they have two children Stephanie and
Matthew. Stephanie is a
special education teacher and completing her Masters degree in mental
health counseling. She is married and has a 15 month old son.
Matthew graduated from DeVry University and is employed by
Oldcastle-Superlite Block. His local community service includes volunteer work at St Vincent DePaul, a lector at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a variety of other community projects.
Ernie
Montagne - District Governor 2010-11
Ernie and his wife, Sally, reside at
the base of the Huachuca Mountains in Hereford, AZ. He serves on the
District Finance Committee and is the Chair of Annual Giving Subcommittee
for District 5500. Ernie is also the Assistant District Governor for eight
clubs in Region 6 (Cochise County). An enthusiastic supporter of The
Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, Ernie is a Major Donor, Bequest
Society Member, multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and member of the Paul Harris
Society. He received The Rotary Foundation
District Service Award in three separate years and the Four Avenues of
Service Award in 2006. He holds a Doctor of Science degree in
Operations Research from George Washington University. He is retired from
the US Army Corp of Engineers and is also a retired defense analyst.
