YOUR MEMBERSHIP MISSION - SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO…

In recognition of August as Membership and Club Development Month, our District Governor Don is issuing a new challenge to all clubs - right from our new strategic action plan. "We ask each Club to add One New Member by June 2024."  That's it, just one.  To help meet this goal, our District, in partnership with Zone 26/27, is offering the second membership education program on August 12th to help you start off the new year.  The 3-hour session is an expanded version of the one we held in the District in January.

How Are You, Really?

That's the question RI President Gordon McInally asks. This year President Gordon is encouraging Rotary members to create a 'culture of care' by making mental health a priority.

Our District Governor Don is now asking for volunteers to create our own District 5500 Mental Health Initiatives Action Group. The team will help identify potential club service projects, provide regional resource information to assist clubs, and help develop a District-wide behavioral health related event in early 2024.

If you are interested, please contact DG Don at donjorgensen@comcast.net.

An Invitation to Hear Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh of Palestine

Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh, President of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem, Palestine, and Founder/Director of the Palestinian Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University, is visiting Southern Arizona this month. Prof. Qumsiyeh is being hosted by Tucson Verde and Sierra Vista Rotary clubs for two presentations. This is a rare opportunity for Tucson and southeastern regional club members to learn firsthand about the struggle of Palestinians and Israelis to arrive at a status of peaceful co-existence in the Holy Land, and to sponsor Global or District grants to aid Palestinian refugees and environmental projects in the Holy Land.

WHEN:
Tucson: Tuesday, August 29, 5:30 pm at the Ward 3 meeting hall, 1510 E. Grant Rd.
Sierra Vista: Wednesday, August 30, 10:30 am at St Andrews' Kino Hall, 800 North Taylor Ave.
