How to Apply for RYLA

Delegates and Junior Counselors must first find a Rotary District 5500 club that will sponsor their participation at RYLA. Delegates are selected and interviewed by their sponsoring club which is responsible for submitting the application.  Junior Counselor applications are submitted by their sponsoring club but JCs are selected by the RYLA Administration staff.

Adult Advisors will submit their applications directly to the RYLA Administration staff at the address listed on the application.
 

Delegate and Junior Counselor Application Process:

  1. Review the RYLA application including requirements, code of conduct, Health Form and Consent Form. Forms may be completed on the computer.

  2. Complete the appropriate application. Student & parents must sign the Delegate and Junior Counselor applications; electronic signatures are acceptable. Be sure to answer the questions on activities and leadership and include a photo.

  3. Submit the application to your sponsoring Rotary club.

  4. All Delegates will go through a selection process by their sponsoring Rotary Club. Junior Counselors will be nominated by their sponsoring club, then selected by the RYLA Administration staff.

  5. Selected applicants are notified by their sponsoring club or by the RYLA Administration staff.

  6. If selected, applicants must commit to attend and participate in the entire 4-day RYLA event on January 17 - 20, 2020.

 This year all applications can be filled out on the computer.  The deadline for all applications is Nov 1st.

Delegates must be ages 14-18, in grades 9-12 and selected by a sponsoring Rotary Club.

 

Download Junior Counselor Application

Delegates who have attended RYLA in a previous year is sponsored by a Rotary Club and will be a Jr or Sr in High School or a Freshman or Sophomore in College are eligible to apply. Must be 17 by January 17, 2020. Interviews will be conducted in November. A criminal background check is required for all Jr Counselors who are selected and will be 18 as of January 17, 2020.

Note that a short essay on why you want to be Junior Counselor is required.

Adult Advisors must be a minimum 20 years of age by January 17, 2020. Interviews will be conducted in November. A criminal background check is required for all Adult Advisors who are selected.
 

NOTE: There will be mandatory training for all Adult Advisors and Junior Counselors on Sunday, January 12, 2020, in Tucson to prepare you for your roles. Details will be provided to individuals accepted in these positions. Home hosting will be available Saturday, January 11, 2020, to anyone coming from out of town.
