”RLI IS UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE BEST PROGRAMS TO ENGAGE, EDUCATE AND RETAIN OUR MEMBERS.” - Monty Audenart, PRIVP, and Trustee, Past Chair of R.I. Membership and Retention Committee

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions in various parts of the world. RLI seeks to provide quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills to Rotarians interested in developing their Rotary participation and to those identified by Rotary Clubs as having potential in club leadership. These educational opportunities will teach skills that will benefit the members in their lives and in their volunteer service. The exchange of ideas with other experienced Rotarians alone makes the courses worthwhile.

What are the Courses?
The Rotary Leadership Institute courses typically occur in three full-morning courses:

  • Course 1: My Rotary World

  • Course 2: The Club

  • Course 3: My Rotary Journey

Course sessions include such topics as Engaging members; our Rotary International Foundation; service projects; strategic planning and analysis; club communications; international service; effective leadership strategies; and public image and public relations.  The sessions run approximately 45 minutes in length.

Where are the courses held?
This year, we will be holding the courses via ZOOM on consecutive Saturdays.  For the first time, the courses will be held sequentially.

  • Course 1: Saturday, January 23, 2021
  • Course 2: Saturday, January 30, 2021
  • Course 3: Saturday, February 6, 2021

Who facilitates the training?
Experienced District Leaders, RLI, and RLA graduates will facilitate the course sessions.  Each facilitators’ depth of knowledge and passion for Rotary will keep the sessions fresh and interesting for participants.

Who should attend?
RLI participants should have a strong interest in Rotary and a desire to learn about the larger world of Rotary. Clubs are encouraged to nominate at least one or two members each year and support their member participants in completing the three-part course, especially by paying any registration fees. Presidents-Elect are also an excellent choice so that they are ready for their year as President. New Rotarians who show an interest in taking RLI classes are also welcome.

What is the cost?
The course fee is $20 per session and will include online access to a wide variety of training materials.  If participants are interested in having a binder of printed materials mailed, the cost is $40 per session.

Why should our club participate?
District 5500 leadership knows that every Rotary Club in Southern Arizona cares about its future growth, engagement, and vibrancy and wants the best leadership possible. Participating in the RLI training is an outstanding opportunity for each club to “grow” its future leaders and enhance knowledge of our Rotary world. At the very least, the exchange of ideas with other experienced Rotarians and the opportunity to network with other Rotarians and make long-lasting Rotary friendships make the courses worthwhile.
